Girl Scouts Celebrate Faith During Girl Scout Week

March 7-13, 2021

Each year, Girl Scout Week is celebrated in March to align with Girl Scouts’ birthday on March 12. Girl Scouts has long-standing traditions of celebrating with faith communities during this week. We do this to share information about Girl Scouts and its benefits, to thank faith partners and adult volunteers for the support they have provided over the past year, and to give girls the opportunity to be recognized in their places of worship as Girl Scouts. Celebrations with faith communities typically include participation in worship services and pre- and/or post-events with the faith community. They can also include community service projects. Partnering with faith communities exposes more people to the benefits of Girl Scouts, strengthens relationships with faith leaders and adult volunteers, shows girls how to connect the principles of Girl Scouting to their faith, and builds the Movement’s diversity. Celebration dates for 2021 include:

  • Girl Scout Sunday – Sunday, March 7
  • Girl Scout Jummah – Friday, March 12
  • Girl Scout Sabbath – Friday, March 12 - Saturday, March 13

There are lots of ways to celebrate with your faith partners. Celebrate with worship services, pre- and post-service events, or service projects. Get started with resources to help you plan, including tips for celebrating virtually.

No country has a more compelling combination of history, culture, and wildlife than South Africa. In Johannesburg, the painful years under apartheid are gone but never forgotten.
